Next Meeting June 19th, 2017 7:00 PM

Ken Hazard "Preparing to exhibit hive products at the fair.”

Ken and his wife, Judy are certified honey judges and will be judging your honey entries at the fair. His talk will cover what you need to consider to compete for a blue ribbon in the fair. It will include the fair rules from the 2017 Premium book; Issues to consider when harvesting your honey crop; the judging points for the 8 classes of honey products and points on other entry classes for wax products. He will also cover some basic rules for entering Bakery products. During the talk Ken will reference critical points to keep in mind if you are planning to sell your honey at the Fair.

Beekeepers Q & A

The Beekeepers Q & A will resume for the month of June. We will be meeting in our Regular meeting room at 6:30. So bring your questions, observations and notebooks so you can ask, and get answered those questions that too often don’t get asked during the regular meeting.

USDA HONEY BEE DISEASE DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES COLLABORATION BETWEEN USDA-ARS, APHIS, & BEE INFORMED PARTNERSHIP STARTS TODAY.

MAY 31, 2017 CATCH THE BUZZ – USDA HONEY BEE DISEASE DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES COLLABORATION BETWEEN USDA-ARS, APHIS, & BEE INFORMED PARTNERSHIP STARTS TODAY. A joint collaboration between the Bee Informed Partnership, the USDA-ARS Bee Research Laboratory and USDA-APHIS has been established in the short term to primarily provide for free diagnostics of honey bee brood for American foul brood disease and other brood diseases. We will also offer other pest and disease diagnostics for a nominal fee. Please see https://beeinformed.org/diagnostics/ for additional information.
